Pancreatitis is the medical term for the inflammation on the pancreas. This normally happens when instead of small intestines, pancreatic enzymes digest the food that the person eats. It may be chronic or acute. The first type will last a little longer than the latter type. They block the passage ways of blood, and other nutrients.

The treatment for acute pancreatitis is usually antibiotics and some bed rest but it is still better that you are admitted to the hospital so that the doctor can observe you well. Your physician will give you pain relievers if the pain in your upper abdomen intensifies. Also, intravenous fluids will be given to supplement those that came out of your body through bowel movement.

On the other hand, chronic type last a little bit longer than one month but the symptoms are very similar to that of the first type. This is the reason why the two is confused most of the time.

The symptoms will include upper abdominal pain that spreads to the back portion of the patient. It gets worsen with eating or drinking and thus the patient is advised to avoid some foods especially liquors while under medications. The patient may also suffer from nausea and vomiting, rapid weight loss, and oily stools.

It is advised that you stop smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages. This is the most natural pancreatitis treatment. You may be required to get admitted to the hospital but the main gist is that after all the medications, you change your lifestyle. You have to change the types of food that you eat. Avoid fatty and oily foods. Better go with vegetables and fruits. Do also exercise since this will help burns out the fats in the body. Once you changed your lifestyle, you will observe that you are less prone to sicknesses.
