Cooking Traditional Meals With Meat

By Jack Wogan

There are people who cannot imagine meals without meat and they shouldn't be blamed. It's true that more and more people are choosing vegetarian diets but meat is packed with many important nutrients like proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Even if nutritionists say meat isn't good for you, you need to be aware that this product can be extremely beneficial if you learn how to cook it and if you cut down the fat. You should only eat meat of animals raised in humane and natural conditions. Thus, you'll all benefit from the many proteins, vitamins and minerals. As you can see, the type of meat you consume is very important too. The more organic it is, the better for your health.

Contrary to what some nutritionists say, meat is good for you but it is beneficial only when if you prepare correctly and reduce the fat. The type of meat you use is crucial too. We should only eat meat of animals raised in natural conditions. Hence, we'll all profit from the many proteins, vitamins and minerals which can be found in meat. Health scares to do with meat have been created by man but if you choose organic types you can enjoy meat and stay healthy. You don't need to become a vegetarian in order to defend your health but you need to become aware of the nourishing options.

Processed meats like bacon or sausages contain a lot of saturated fats and nitrates that nobody needs in their bodies. You may love these but focus on healthier versions. If buying skinless chicken breasts seems right because by shopping this way you reduce fat, breading and deep-frying them does not make any sense at all. Buy lean meats and don't ignore fish as most of them are excellent healthy choices due to their omega-3 fatty acids. Before preparing chicken or turkey, pull all the skin off and remove the fat from the edges of some lean cuts. Frying is not an option when there are so many other cooking techniques which guarantee great flavors while keeping out extra fat and calories. Roasting, grilling and steaming are wonderful ways to prepare meats at home.

Watching your health doesn't mean that a dry chicken breast is the only alternative for you. Use recipes that give aroma without making use of fattening ingredients. Here is an example: use chopped herbs or sesame seeds for a breading-like crust. The idea is that eating too much of the wrong types of meat increases the disease risk for most people. As a consequence, make sure that you avoid processed foods and consume lots of vegetables with your meat. You don't need to become a vegetarian in order to buffer the risks; you just have to become aware of the nourishing options.
