A Closer Look at Some Back Pain Causes

Back pain is a very common and very troublesome symptom that has many possible causes. Because of the grueling time we tend to spend doing things on our computers; we are more likely to be putting undo stress on our backs. You need to exercise, just be careful not to injure your back.

Let's look more closely at these and other typical causes of back pain.

Sometimes what causes our back pain is obvious. People that engaged in moving furniture or heavy objects before they're back injury developed should understand why they are hurting now. One of the best things you can do is get professional help for your back if it is hurting you too much. A good thing about seeing a physician is they will recommend tests for you to do to find out why you are hurting. X-rays at multiple angles, or CT scans, may be part of your doctor's recommendations. If it is very bad, they may also recommend an MRI scan which can pinpoint where the problem may be.

Uncomfortable shoes can change your posture and the way you walk, which, over time, can contribute to back pain. High heeled shoes tend to fail when proper distribution of weight is an issue and may add to back pain. Wearing cowboy boots can cause the same type of discomfort. You will be putting several parts of your body at risk for strain or injury if you opt for inappropriate footwear. Posture and walking in a balanced way is important for the health of your back, and this requires the right footwear.

This eventually contributes to spinal degeneration. One reason not well known for back pain is dehydration; because the discs that are the foundation for your vertebrae need to have adequate water to stay nourished. Dehydration is something we need to take heed of and make sure that our entire body is given the required amounts of water to maintain optimal health.

Stress can be a cause of back pain. If you are feeling tense, your muscles will respond in a similar manner. Each person will have a different reaction to stress in their lives, which may develop as a backache, stiff neck, or an ailment somewhere else on the body. Your body can actually avoid these reactions if you release the stress and tension. Stress also causes cortisol to build up in your body; this is a hormone that can cause inflammation in various parts of the body. To prevent stress from reaching these levels, you need to acknowledge that you are experiencing the stress that you feel. Even if your back pain was caused by something else, stress can make it worse and make it take longer to heal, so it's worthwhile to find ways to reduce stress in your life.

When you are going through back pain, your only thoughts are trying to figure out how to alleviate it. Once you are aware of what factors will result in back troubles, you might be able to steer clear of some of them. In some cases, medical help is needed. There are a lot of back issues that can get some relief with the help of a chiropractor, massage therapist and many other health providers.
