The Best Way to Build Your Muscle Mass

By Vincent Everett

A lot of men want that lean, muscular look that comes from a huge upper body, six pack abdominal muscles and a small waist. In order to build large upper body muscles, you must concentrate on specific muscle groups, use proper form and eat plenty of calories. Apply these basic tricks for massive upper body muscles.

For quick muscle building, you need to push your muscles to grow. Believe it or not, if you do not push your muscles to increase in size, they won't. By using the overloading principle, you can push your muscles into growing faster. If you are not familiar with the overload principle, it means you need to work out with weights that are greater than your muscles can comfortably handle.

Carbohydrates may be the sworn enemy of people looking to lose weight, but they become fast friends when you want to pack on muscle mass. When you exercise, your body will draw the fuel it needs primarily from carbs or proteins. Since you want to be using protein to bulk up instead of burning it away, a healthy load of carbohydrates will allow you to exercise at your maximum potential.

Your ultimate goal should be to work out up to six days a week. If you are just getting started, working out two days a week is probably best. Keep in mind that your muscles need 24 hours to heal and expand; if you do not wait long enough in between work outs, your muscle mass will not increase. The best way to let your muscle heal while working out is to alternate different routines so you can work on different muscle groups every day. You should start with a few exercises to improve your cardio or core strength before targeting specific muscles.

In order for your muscles to develop properly, you need to allow them to rest. You also need to get enough sleep every night. During intense workouts, you stretch and tear the tissues that make up your muscles. They repair themselves and rebuild while your body is at rest.

Come up with a weight building plan. This is a great idea. Instead of walking into the gym aimlessly and lifting as much as you can, you need to come up with a specific regimen to follow. That allows you to streamline your workout so you have a workout that is effective and smart.

These different methods should help you build muscle mass and maximize the effectiveness of your weight lifting program. Do more research and make frequent changes to your workout routine for the best results.
